Psychology Summary

Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour. It investigates and discusses reasons for how we behave, think and feel both as individuals and in larger group settings. Psychology draws upon real life research to provide adequate explanations for behaviour that us as psychologists can interpret more thoroughly through analysis and evaluation. Psychology is a growing in popularity and is a thriving academic discipline that has seen a surge in the need for professionals within this field of study. It is a subject that can be used in a wide range of careers including, medicine, education, business and human resources.

How you will study

You will study both compulsory and optional topics in order to complete 3 externally assessed examinations at the end of Y13. Throughout your study you will be encouraged to discuss topics and apply knowledge to relevant examples and studies. You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of research methods, along with specific maths skills.

Research methods appears in all 3 papers and makes up 30% of marks across all 3 papers. 10% of that being maths skills.
