Future Level charts and pathways

Choosing the right subjects for your next phase of studies can be a real challenge. It’s important to select subjects that you enjoy, believe you’ll excel in, and that align with your desired career path or university courses. We are here to assist you in making these choices through interviews or our open events. All students are required to study the equivalent of three A Levels, which can consist of a combination of traditional A Levels or Applied Generals (including BTECs).

So, what’s the difference?

A-Levels

A-Levels are single-subject qualifications studied over a span of two years. They are assessed through a series of exams at the end. Some A Levels may include coursework, which accounts for up to 30% of the overall grade.

Applied General Qualifications

Applied Generals are focused on a specific subject area, but their size can vary. These qualifications involve continuous assessment, which means you will undergo exams and complete coursework throughout the two-year study period. Each exam or piece of coursework can be retaken once if needed. Applied Generals are equivalent to A Levels and also open doors to university, further study, training, or employment. You have the flexibility to combine both qualification types if desired.
